What is Takemoto Kama?

Banshu sickles are said to have originated after the Meiji Restoration, when Isuke Fujiwara, a swordsmith, applied his razor manufacturing techniques to sickles. Around that time, the first generation Kikumatsu (grandfather of the current owner) and his brothers founded a sickle blacksmith shop. The Banshu sickle was also known as the ``razor sickle'' and was highly praised for its sharpness. Although mechanization has become the mainstream of manufacturing, we still carefully finish each blade by hand, producing sickles that are sharp, long-lasting, and easy to handle. Currently, we are developing a product lineup that meets a wide range of needs, from the standard brand ``Kikumatsu Series'' to the highest-quality brand ``Sakle,'' as well as ``TAKEMOTO BROS.,'' a brand that combines function, durability, and design. We continue to search for the next generation of sickle making.
