Simply place it vertically at the angle of the blade and sharpen.

How to sharpen scissors: Before use, soak the sharpening stone in water for about 5 minutes. Open the scissors (remove the spring if they have one). For the cutting blade, firmly grip the handle and sharpen by placing the stone vertically at the angle of the blade. Sharpening with the blade open and held firmly provides a cleaner edge. For bud-pruning shears with cutting blades on both sides, sharpen the other blade in the same way. The receiving blade usually does not need sharpening, but sharpen it if the tip is chipped or worn down. To sharpen, open the blade and place the stone vertically at the angle of the blade. For a complete sharpening, it is best to disassemble the scissors.
The "Hasami Masamune Sharpening Stone for Scissors #1000" is for restoring sharpness. If the blade is chipped, it is best to use a rough sharpening stone or consult a professional sharpener. We also accept sharpening requests at amenoma. *Caution: Avoid sharpening the back of the cutting and receiving blades as much as possible. Scissors cut by the meshing of the blades. If the blades open up from sharpening, they may not mesh at all and become unable to cut. We recommend only removing burrs from the front of the blade after sharpening. After use, if storing for a long period, do not forget to wipe with oil such as camellia oil. Dry the sharpening stone in a well-ventilated, shady place before storing.
