ONOYOSHI BZ-type Pruning Shears 210mm (body/parts)
The one and only "Benkei Style" pruning shears.
BZ Pruning Shears 210mm.
Advanced version of B-type pruning shears.
Symmetrical “Benkei Style” projection on the shoulder of the handle allows for use in the opposite hand. The principle of leverage makes it easy to prune with less force. The blade consists of a clam-shaped upper blade and a crescent-shaped lower blade to lock and cut the grabbed branch.
Whole body forged + honyaki finish. The blade is strong, durable, and sharp because it is hand-formed. Maintenance and repairs such as resharpening and distortion removal work are available. Includes one pine needle spring for replacement. Spring and screws are sold separately as parts.
Uses: Can be used for various pruning work such as for plants, flowers, bonsai, gardening, orchards, and fresh flowers. Can cut about 15 mm (up to a maximum of 20 mm). *The maximum cutting capacity varies depending on grip strength.
“Benkei” was a famous Japanese warrior monk who was active in the late Heian period and was known for his superhuman strength and skill in wielding the “Seven Weapons.” Because of its resemblance to his stocky build, this style is known as the “Benkei style.”

Model BZ is recommended for gardeners who want a sturdy and stiff pair of shears. The blade is designed to withstand a cut of up to 20mm. The mirror finish on the blade surface is beautiful, and the craftsman's unique touch makes this a product that will move the heart of the user.
Note: The blade has a small finish on the back to prevent chipping when used for cutting raw wood, so it is difficult to cut ropes and strings (strings used to tie to posts, etc.).
