Cutting ingredients while feeling the warmth of wood. Why not reclaim such an experience, which seems natural but is now being forgotten?
Your Daily Cooking Will Change
A cutting board is one of the most frequently used tools in the kitchen. That's why good quality significantly impacts your daily cooking experience.
With a "tumugu Cutting Board," you'll feel the gentleness of wood every time you cut ingredients, and the comfortable sensation in your hands. These small joys will enrich your daily meals.

About Ikutomotatsuo Woodworks
Miki City in Hyogo Prefecture is a leading producer of metalware in Japan. Ikutomotatsuo Woodworks, founded in 1946 in this region, has established itself as a woodcraft workshop that makes handles for interchangeable-blade saws. Initially, they manufactured wooden spirit levels, but with the development of interchangeable-blade saws, they shifted their business to focus on manufacturing saw handles. They have maintained a mass production line and continued their activities as a supporting force for the development of the region.
Currently, the fourth-generation owner, Kuniki Ikutomo, has inherited the business and launched the new brand "tumugu," adding new ideas to decades of joinery techniques. The Cutting Board is the first product they have released under this brand. The high-frequency bonding technology and precise joinery techniques cultivated in saw handle manufacturing have been reborn into tools that adorn daily dining tables.

Cutting Boards that Showcase Artisanal Skill
A vertical hole is needed to insert the back metal that secures the saw blade. The handle is made by gluing together grooved wood. When gluing, a unique high-frequency bonding technology is used. Carpenters make saw handles that are strong and durable enough to be used for decades. Applying this technique, our cutting boards are created by combining three types of natural wood (maple, cherry, and walnut) in a unique design. The joinery technique allows for thin, intricately combined boards that are resistant to cracking. "tumugu Cutting Board" is a piece imbued with the artisan's thoughts, tailored to daily life.
From material selection to finishing, the artisan's eye is keen throughout every process. The wood's expression deepens with use, becoming more appealing over time. This beauty arises precisely because it is an item that can be cherished for a long time.

Enjoy Cutting Ingredients.
The "tumugu Cutting Board" was born from the desire for daily cooking to be more vibrant and enjoyable. By regularly combining the deep colors unique to natural wood, we have achieved a lovely and timeless design.
All the hardwoods used are dense, water-resistant, and corrosion-resistant. Since wood is softer than a knife, it allows your precious blades to last longer without damage.
The size of 200mm (height) x 300mm (width) x 20mm (thickness) is the result of thorough consideration for a balance of portability and stability. It is perfect for the kitchen, as well as outdoor activities like camping. It also serves wonderfully as a serving plate, adding a beautiful touch to your table. "tumugu Cutting Board" currently comes in three types. Here are their features:

tumugu Shirotsurubami (白橡)
Shirotsurubami is an ancient name for acorns. This name was given because it is composed of maple, which is close to off-white. Maple wood is a hardwood characterized by its white, fine-grained texture, high strength, and smooth feel. You can enjoy its beautiful aging, which changes from milky white to amber. We recommend choosing one that matches the color of your kitchen counter or table.

tumugu Kohaku (琥珀)
Kohaku is fossilized natural resin, a translucent yellowish-brown. This name was given because its main color is composed of cherry, which is close to yellowish-brown. Its greatest appeal is its dramatic aging, changing from pale pink to deep reddish-brown with use. It has a fine and smooth texture. We recommend choosing one that matches the color of your kitchen counter or table.

tumugu Tonocha ( 砺茶 )
Tonocha is the name of a dye color from the Edo period, named after the color of a whetstone. This name was given because its main color is composed of walnut, which is close to brownish-black. It features a deep dark brown chocolate color and beautiful wood grain. It is impact-resistant, highly durable, and less prone to warping or distortion due to temperature and humidity. We recommend choosing one that matches the color of your kitchen counter or table.

Tools That Last a Lifetime
Good tools gain value over time. The "tumugu Cutting Board," made from natural wood, also develops a unique character with continued use, making it even more cherished.
Because it has an oil finish, the initial deep color will gradually fade with each wash. If you regularly treat it with oil, the color will be restored, allowing you to use it for generations to come. This long relationship allows it to etch the history of your dining table. That is the true value of "tumugu." Woodworkers carefully combine each piece of joinery, imagining the joyful smiles of those who will use it. This cutting board condenses the best of handmade craftsmanship. Please enjoy cooking while feeling the warmth of wood. We will introduce care instructions in a future blog post.
