The company began as a sickle maker during the Meiji period, around the time of the Russo-Japanese War. In 1946, it was established as Tanaka Tsutomu Sickle Works, a company dedicated to the craft of blade-making and manufacturing tools under the motto of “creating products recognized and appreciated by our users”.
In 2000, the company was renamed Tanaka Kazuyuki Cutlery Works, continuing its tradition to the present day. Production began in 1994. The company’s craftsmen trained under a traditional craftsman in Takefu City, Fukui Prefecture, and have since introduced numerous works to the world under the brand Shigeki Saku.
Due to their masterful technique and innovative design, their products are beloved both domestically and internationally.
