Japanese Sickle Sharpening Stone.

For all farm tools. Sickle Sharpening Stone #150/#800.

This is a Japanese-made sharpening stone for sickles proposed by a sickle blacksmith. It's a portable sharpening stone that can be used immediately on-site when you feel your sickle isn't cutting well. It's a double-sided type with a coarse grit (#150) and a medium grit (#800), and can be used for various outdoor farm tools, from restoring sharpness to repairing nicks and removing rust. It's easy to use. Just hold it perpendicular to the blade's angle and sharpen. This simple maintenance takes less than 5 minutes.

Purpose: All types of sickles. For re-sharpening and rust removal on the blades of hoes, shovels, and weeding tools used in gardening.

How to sharpen a sickle. Soak the sharpening stone in water until it absorbs water. A sickle usually has a single bevel, so sharpen the side with the blade. Sharpen it perpendicularly according to the angle of the blade. When a burr forms on the back, it's a sign that it's sharpened. Lightly run it over the burr a few times to remove it, and you're done.
How to sharpen a saw tooth sickle. Sharpen the opposite side of the serrated (凹凸) blade. Sharpen it perpendicularly to the blade surface. When a good serrated edge appears and a burr forms on the back, remove the burr by running it over a few times, just like with a regular sickle. If storing for a long period after use, don't forget to wipe it with oil, such as camellia oil. Dry the sharpening stone in a well-ventilated, shaded area before storing.
